This ten year old Alice in Wonderland calendar features lovely illustrations by
Lisbeth Twerger, and I repurposed it into envelopes for a limited series of Valentine's Day greeting cards.
My Alice in Wonderland
My memory of Alice in Wonderland is firmly intertwined with the darkness and fear of the scenes of Alice with the bullying flowers and the creepy stalker Cheshire cat that opened the
classic Disney's Alice in Wonderland animated film. Watching the
new Alice film last year was a bit of a sad event, for the imagery, while much more true to the original Lewis Caroll story, was not what I remembered.
These illustrations help me to reconcile the imagery from my childhood and the imagery from the new film.
Spreading the Love for Alice in Wonderland
Clearly Alice means different things to each and every fan. But, regardless of which imagery reminds you of the story,
Alice has a clear design language. There are iconic objects in the story: the flowers, the tea cups, the mad hatter's hat, the queen of hearts.
So, I thought, why not design a set of Valentine's Day cards that feature iconic Alice imagery? I will be putting these on
my Storenvy shop as Valentine's Day approaches, so stay posted.
In the meantime, if you are craving a little bit of Alice in your life,
