Neuroscience Pop Art, Partie Deux (Part 2)

One of my graduate students instructors researches neuroglia. Way till she finds out that all I ever learned about them was how to draw these intricate cells.  Actually, I did pretty well on this part of the exam (see below). So, we should be OK.

A Video on Neuroglia

Want something more animated to get you pumped up about neuroglia?  Check this out.  You don't even have to know French to appreciate the high tech imagery.  Though, I am quite sure the narrator called neuroglia the "babysitteurs" of neurons.  I should have studied in Paris.  This bio stuff is far more interesting when you don't quite remember your high school French!

...That does it, I have to do these in French, too.

Oh, and in case she's reading...

Name and list the functions of the 4 central nervous system (CNS) neuroglia.

1. Astrocytes: nutrition for neurons and the BBB
2. Microglia: macrophage / immune response
3. Ependymal Cells: secrete CSF, line ventricles
4. Oligodendrocytes: form the myelin sheath (go insulation!)

Getting Ready for Valentine's Day

Today, I started making cupcake toppers for Valentine's Day. The best part of these toppers is their size. The stem is 2 1/2" long, when you measure from just below the topper itself to the end of the pick. This makes it much much better for those jumbo cupcakes everyone wants to receive.
